If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably looked at your child and thought, “When did they grow up so fast?”

The giggles change. The bedtime routines get shorter. The toys shift from stuffed animals to sports gear or screens. And somewhere in between, those fleeting moments become lifelong memories—if we’re lucky enough to capture them.

As a lifestyle photographer based in Youngstown, Ohio, I specialize in freezing time just a little. Not with stiff poses, but with honest, everyday moments you’ll never want to forget. Here's how you can preserve your child's childhood before it's just a memory.

1. Document the Everyday

The real magic often happens in the ordinary:

Morning snuggles on the couch

Messy snack time faces

Backyard play on a warm afternoon

Pajamas and bedtime stories

You don’t need a special occasion to take meaningful photos. Capture what your life actually looks like right now.

2. Schedule Seasonal Sessions

Spring blooms, summer freedom, fall leaves, winter coziness—each season brings its own chapter in your family’s story.

Even just one or two short sessions a year can create a visual timeline that becomes more valuable with time. I offer seasonal mini sessions across Northeast Ohio that are quick, relaxed, and designed for real life.

3. Include Their Favorites

Photos that reflect your child’s personality right now—favorite toys, outfits, books, or drawings—tell a deeper story. These little details will become memory triggers in the future.

You might consider a yearly photo tradition where you document:

What they love

Their handwriting

How they laugh or talk

Who they are in that moment

It’s a gift to your future self—and to them.

4. Don’t Wait for “Perfect”

There’s never a perfect time. Real life is messy, unpredictable, and wonderful just the way it is.

Your house doesn’t have to be spotless. Your kids don’t have to be perfectly behaved. Some of my favorite photos come from the in-between moments—when no one is looking at the camera, but everyone is completely themselves.

5. Be In the Frame

You deserve to be in these memories, too. Not just behind the camera, but holding your child, laughing with them, and being fully present.

When you hire me, I make sure you’re part of the story. I’ll gently guide you, follow your family’s rhythm, and focus on capturing your real connection—not forced smiles.
