Fellows Riverside Gardens


IIf you’re dreaming of a clean, elegant, and timeless look, Fellows Riverside Gardens is one of the best locations in Northeast Ohio. Located within Mill Creek Park and operated by Mill Creek MetroParks, this twelve-acre garden is known for its beautifully maintained florals, formal rose gardens, and soft, open light that photographs so well.


It’s perfect for senior sessions, engagements, or dressier family photos, especially if you want variety without a lot of walking. The landscaping gives you multiple backdrops in a small space, and during golden hour, the light creates that warm, glowing look that makes skin tones look amazing.

If you’re drawn to something a little more rustic and full of character, Lanterman’s Mill is easily one of the most iconic spots inside Mill Creek Park. Built in the mid-1800s and now operated by Mill Creek MetroParks, this historic working mill brings together wood, stone, water, and a stunning waterfall backdrop that adds instant variety to your gallery.


It’s perfect for fall family sessions, adventurous kids who love to explore, or anyone wanting a more relaxed, storytelling feel. Between the covered bridge, rushing water, and natural textures, it creates images that feel both timeless and a little wild—in the best way. For the best experience (and fewer crowds), aim for morning or early evening sessions.

Pioneer Pavilion


This area is so underrated and one of my personal favorites inside Mill Creek Park. Pioneer Pavilion is a historic stone structure built in the early 1820s, making it one of the oldest remaining buildings in Mahoning County. Originally used as a mill for carding and fulling wool, it now serves as a rental space for community events and gatherings, maintained by Mill Creek MetroParks.


What makes this spot so special for photos is the surrounding open space—perfect for families with little kids, playful candid moments, and sunset sessions where everything glows. It’s quieter than many other areas in the park, giving you room to move, relax, and just enjoy the moment while the light does its thing.

Built in 1895 and restored in 2007 by Mill Creek MetroParks, this Gothic-style bridge is one of the most photographed landmarks in Northeast Ohio. Known for its ornate towers, detailed latticework, and scenic views over Mill Creek, it creates a timeless and slightly whimsical backdrop that works beautifully in all seasons.


This location is especially popular for senior photography, couples sessions, and adventurous family portraits because of its unique architecture and natural surroundings. The bridge offers strong leading lines, beautiful framing opportunities, and a mix of structure and greenery that adds depth and storytelling to every image.
