Rainy. Cold. Unexpectedly perfect.


Prom night in Northeast Ohio doesn’t always come with perfect weather—and this May 1st session proved it.


Instead of clear skies, we got cold rain all day. Outdoor plans were off the table fast. But that’s where everything shifted in the best way.


We moved the entire session inside the The Butler Institute of American Art, and it turned into something completely different than a typical prom shoot—clean architecture, warm museum light, quiet hallways, and bursts of color from the artwork made the perfect backdrop.


This wasn’t about forcing poses or waiting for perfect conditions. It was about adapting, moving, and creating in real time.


And honestly? That’s where the best images happened.

The rain outside actually helped us slow down and focus on details:

  • the dress movement in indoor light
  • reflections along the glass railings
  • candid in-between moments
  • walking shots through gallery spaces
  • quiet pauses between poses



WHY THE BUTLER WORKS SO WELL

When Ohio weather doesn’t cooperate, indoor spaces like the Butler become a creative playground. The architecture gives structure, and the art gives personality—without needing props or setups.
